Dinty Moore beef stew

One of the things that actually has "gluten free" on the label is Dinty Moore beef stew. I remember loving the idea of this canned beef stew when I was younger, since my brothers would buy it and take it on backpacking trips, but I admit I hadn't tried it in a few years. Neither had the boy.

So, Albertsons had it on sale 10 for 10 (meaning 10 cans for 10 dollars), and I bought a few. He tried it and told me "we shouldn't buy much more of that..." and so I stored that in my memory bank. A few days ago, running late for work, I grabbed a can and threw it in with my lunch. Thinking I was being all healthy and stuff (and using stuff that wasn't going off the shelf very fast), I heated it up for lunch.

I would say that, well, it's not very tasty. I'm not very impressed. The meat is kinda weird, and a little greasy tasting. Maybe we've just been spoiled by all the freshly-prepared goodness we've been eating lately.

I guess I'm reporting that yes, Dinty Moore beef stew is gluten free, but no, I'm not planning on eating it, unless we go backpacking sometime.
